Youth Advisory Panel Application

Are you 14–17 years old and passionate about making social media a better space for young people?
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) would love to work with you as part of our Youth Advisory Panel (YAP)!

What we’re about:
The AAP represents 67,000 pediatricians dedicated to children's health. Our Center of Excellence on Social Media and Youth Mental Health brings teens, families, doctors, and teachers together to help children and teens use digital media in ways that protect and support mental health. Learn more about us here.

What you’ll do as a YAP member:
  • Share your experiences and ideas about social media and mental health.
  • Help us create resources for other teens, families, teachers, and doctors.
  • Give feedback on our programs, campaigns, and educational materials.
What’s expected:
  • Be between 14–17 years old when you apply.
  • Serve from October 2025 through September 2026 (with a chance to stay longer!).
  • Speak up, share your opinions.
  • Attend monthly virtual meetings that run for 90 minutes.
  • Participate in projects and virtual events. Additional time may be needed outside of the monthly meetings to participate in projects or events. While participation beyond meetings is flexible, YAP members are expected to engage in activities as time and interests allows.
  • You must be living in the US to participate.
Compensation:
YAP members will receive a $1,800 stipend for their participation over the year.

Applications are due by Friday, June 13, 2025!
